Burundi is participating in the 1st regional Tourism Expo organized by the East African Community in Arusha, Tanzania from 9th to 11th October, 2021, under the theme, ‘Promotion of Resilient Tourism for Inclusive Socio-economic Development’.
Tourism players are upbeat of the sector’s recovery in the region, with the 1st EAC Regional Tourism EXPO that attracted over 2,000 visitors from across the globe and 100 exhibitors confirming their participation in Arusha, Tanzania. The Tourist Expo aims at creating awareness on tourism investment opportunities amid the Covi-19 pandemic and promotes EAC as a single tourism destination.
The Tourism sector in the East African Community is one of the most important areas of cooperation for EAC Partner States owing to its contribution to the economies of Partner States in terms of GDP (about 10%), export earnings (17%) and jobs (about 7%).
It is expected that Burundi will be represented in the 1st EAC Tourism Expo by the Ministry in charge of the East African Community, Youth, Culture and Sports along with the Ministry in charge of Tourism and attended by exhibitors from Coffee Development Board (ODECA).
